‘The Book’ Contributors
At Havin’ A Laugh we have been blown away by the quality of submissions for the book. People were so generous in sharing their words and art with us and we are extremely grateful to everyone who not only took part but shared our project far and wide.
We are delighted that best-selling Irish novelist, Roisin Meany, has submitted some pieces. Sligo poet and writer Maeve O’Reilly McKenna is a contributor. Hennessy Literary Award Winner Louise G. Cole from Roscommon is also in the book. Our Sligo legend Michael Quirke has a lovely story about The Sligo Cat and Irish writer Dr. Marion McGarry also has a Sligo-based story in the book. Jim Gray, former editor of The Sligo Champion is also involved.
In addition, there are local photographers and artists who have contributed work including Eddie Lee, Wayne O’Connor, and more.
‘The Book’ Volunteers
The project has given us a greater insight into the support networks that exist in our community. Every step in the process of bringing this book to light has been supported by volunteer efforts. Thank you to all the volunteers that sought us out, and especially to Sligo Volunteer Centre for connecting us to world-class volunteers waiting and willing to share their skills on projects such as ours, from transcribers to graphic designers.
There is a huge team of volunteers behind the creation of ‘The Book’. The main team includes Blaithin Sweeney, Teresa Conway, Trisha Fallon, and Val Robus. Eamon O’Cleirigh is our Editor and Ross Cassidy is our graphic designer.
Each and every volunteer has put a lot of hours into putting this book together. It was a lot more work than any of us imagined but enjoyable all the same, it’s so exciting for us to see it in print!
